Match Report: Ardscoil Rís v St. Munchin’s College Junior Cup

Munster Schools Junior Cup Match Report is courtesy of Cian Davis and Michael Davern, St. Munchin’s College.

The match had a slow start with many heavy hits being made. It was a tightly contested game but after fifteen minutes, Munchins got the upper hand. After minutes of sustained pressure in the Ard Scoil twenty-two, Evan Sheehan barged his way over the tryline. Outhalf Jazz Pendejito scored the conversion to give Munchins a 7-0 lead. Ard Scoil Rís responded well to falling behind. They were very effective and organised around the ruck. A penalty outside the twenty-two was capitalized upon by Ard Scoil’s Adam McNamara.

It was St.Munchins who struck next. While in possession they expanded the width of play which saw Pendejito taking full advantage to the left of the posts. Liam Barry was shown a yellow card seconds after the try. Munchins had a 3-12 lead going into the break.

The second half saw a tight battle between both sides. Jazz Pendejito was sent to the sin bin for a tackle with no intention of wrapping. Minutes from the end, Munchins secured the victory. Winger Josh Neill scored to the left of the posts with Pendejito scoring the conversion to give St. Munchins College a comfortable 19-3 victory. Ard Scoil Rís will face St. Clement’s College in the next round.
