Rockwell had the home advantage with the match being played at Clanwilliam FC but played in an unfamiliar red strip with Crescent getting to play in their home strip. Crescent were slight favourites going into the match despite missing big names Glen Dickenson and Peter Hickey.

Crescent started well with a Daniel Hurley penalty after five minutes to put Crescent on the scoreboard.

In a game where both defences were strong Daniel Hurley scored the opening try of the game under the posts in the nineteenth minute, he easily converted.

Rockwell had a good spell of possession and got close to scoring a try of their own after a great maul but were unable to get over the line. Half-time Crescent 10 Rockwell 0.

Early in the second half Niall Mulcahy scored a vital try for Crescent in the corner, Hurley converted to give Crescent a seventeen point lead.

Off a well-executed maul Rockwell gave themselves an outside chance when Ben Murray scored in the corner but Flannery missed the conversion.

That’s how the game finished Crescent 17 Rockwell 5.
