Munster In The Community

19th February 2016 By Munster Rugby

Munster In The Community

Munster Rugby were on hand to support a number of charity and community initiatives across the province in the past month.

School Visits
The pupils of Monaleen National School had quite the treat when Munster’s Mark Chishom, Ian Keatley and Francis Saili called in to say hello.  With all the students dressing in red for the occasion, the players answered questions, posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Plus, all in the name of fun, Francis Saili accepted their push-up challenge.  See for yourself!

While in Cork, Stephen Archer and Billy Holland visited Ballintemple National School where the lads gave away Munster v Ospreys tickets to a number of lucky pupils.

Disable Inequality
Billy Holland, John Ryan, Rory Scannell, Cian Bohane and Duncan Casey were on hand to support Disable Inequality which is making equality a defining issue in Election 2016 for the more than 600,000 people living with a disability in Ireland.

Their aim is to make disability a priority in the new Programme for Government.

#ISeeBeyond Campaign
For the month of February Munster Rugby has joined forces with Headway, one of our Nominated Charities for the current season, in supporting the #ISeeBeyond campaign.

People with hidden disabilities such as Acquired Brain Injury and Epilepsy are all saying the same thing… See Beyond!

While their disabilities may not be visible at a glance, they are real and can make life for people very difficult at times at home, at work or just out and about in their day to day lives. Headway and Epilepsy Ireland have come together to bring the discussion of Hidden Disabilities to the fore. Watch their stories here.

And it's not just epilepsy and acquired brain injury. Conditions such as autism, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, asthma, migraine and many others can have a huge hidden impact for hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland.

They are asking you the public – individuals, businesses and charity organisations to show that you can See Beyond by visibly showing your support on social media and signing the pledge – #ISeeBeyondShow Your Support here.

Other charity and community initiatives to receive free match tickets from Munster Rugby in recent months include:

  • Special Friends, Mitchelstown
  • A Car for Cillian, Carrick-on-Suir
  • 37th Togher Scouts, Cork
  • Special Olympics
  • The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust
  • The Shine Centre, Cork
  • My Canine Companion Autism Services
  • Youth Advocacy Programme Ireland
