Murray Nominated For 6 Nations Player Of The Tournament

Munster’s Conor Murray is one of two Irish players nominated for the 2016 6 Nations Player of the tournament. The 26-year-old is joined on the shortlist by his half-back colleague Johnny Sexton.

Murray started every game of this season’s campaign, crossing for tries against Wales, England and Scotland and it’s testament to the Limerick native’s consistency that he has started every 6 Nations game for the past four seasons.

In total eleven Munster players were named in Joe Schmidt’s extended squads across the campaign, nine of which came through the Munster academy system.

Murray, James Cronin, Keith Earls, Tommy O’Donnell, Donnacha Ryan, CJ Stander and Simon Zebo all featured in competitive action with Dave Foley, Jack O’Donoghue, Dave Kilcoyne and Andrew Conway included in extended training squads.

Ireland: Jonathan Sexton, Conor Murray
England: Billy Vunipola, Jonathan Joseph and Jack Nowell
