Squad Update

Munster trained under glorious sunshine at UL today in advance of Saturday’s crucial Guinness PRO12 clash away to Connacht at the Sportsground – KO 7:15pm. Meanwhile a number of players continue to rehab their respective knocks in the countdown to this weekend’s action.

Dave O’Callaghan received positive news following a scan on his knee.  The back row has suffered bone bruising and is currently following his return to play programme with the medical team remaining hopeful that he can return to full training later in the week.

There was good news also for Dave Foley with his ankle injury not as bad as first feared.  A scan has revealed the second row sustained an ankle ligament sprain and is expected to return to full training next week.

Mario Sagario (calf) is another expected to train fully next week.

Donnacha Ryan is now in the final stages of his return to play protocols for a concussion sustained against Leinster in the Aviva Stadium.

Academy second row Sean McCarthy has undergone a scan for a knee injury picked up in action for Munster A against Ulster A at Naas RFC last Thursday.  The medical team are currently awaiting scan results but McCarthy is not expected to feature for the remainder of the season.

Duncan Casey however suffered no ill-effects from his return to action in Naas.  The hooker spent almost five months rehabbing a pectoral tear sustained against Treviso in Round 1 of the Champions Cup at Thomond Park in November.

BJ Botha (knee), Mark Chisholm (concussion), Tyler Bleyendaal (quad), Denis Hurley (calf), Kevin O’Byrne (knee) and Peter O’Mahony (ACL) all continue to follow their respective rehabilitation programmes.
