Squad Update

The latest injury and squad news as Munster continue preparations for this Friday’s crucial Guinness PRO12 encounter with Edinburgh in Cork (KO 7.35pm), while on the club front, there was strong academy representation in the weekend’s AIL play-off action.
Munster players and management gathered in UL today for the first squad session of the week with Head Coach Anthony Foley set to name his side to face Edinburgh at midday on Thursday.
In terms of injuries there was positive news for Dave O'Callaghan (knee bruising), Dave Foley (ankle), and Shane Buckley (hip pointer) with all three returning to full training this week.
However, Donnacha Ryan has been ruled out of contention for this week’s encounter as he continues to be monitored by the medical staff for a concussion he sustained against Connacht. Mario Sagario also joins the rehabilitation group after sustaining an ankle injury during training.
BJ Botha (knee), Mark Chisholm (concussion), Tyler Bleyendaal (quad), Denis Hurley (calf), Kevin O'Byrne (knee) and Peter O'Mahony (ACL) all continue to follow their respective rehabilitation programmes.
Meanwhile it was confirmed on Friday that Jordan Coghlan will leave the province at the end of the season. The back row who to date has made eight PRO12 appearances for Munster will move to Nottingham Rugby for the 2016/17 season.
In club action, a total of eight academy players featured as Cork Constitution and Young Munster went head to head at Temple Hill in the AIL Division 1A play-offs.
Tomás Quinlan, Ned Hodson, Ryan Foley, Rory Burke and Liam O’Connor overcame their academy colleagues Dan Goggin, Gearoid Lyons and Ben Kilkenny as Cork Constitution played out a 22-16 win.
The Young Munster backroom team on the day also featured Munster out half Ian Keatley (pictured below).
Quinlan added two conversions and a penalty for the home side with Lyons kicking three penalties and a conversion for the Limerick-men.
Cork Constitution now face Clontarf in the AIL Division 1A final on Sunday May 8th at the Aviva Stadium.
