Munster In The Community
19th May 2016 By Munster Rugby
Munster players have been out and about again this week lending their support to clubs, schools and charities across the province.
Grant Thornton Corporate 5k Team Challenge
Robin Copeland, Niall Scannell and Simon Zebo joined former Munster player John Kelly in launching the Grant Thornton Corporate 5k Team Challenge which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 29 June starting outside Grant Thornton’s offices on South Mall.
Aimed at encouraging social running amongst the business community, the event welcomes both seasoned runners as well as beginners. This is a team event with four participants per team with their scores combining to determine the winner. There are prizes on offer for the top five teams in the Male, Female and Mixed categories, and all entrants receive a souvenir technical t-shirt and a goody bag.
Kelly, now Audit Director of Grant Thornton Cork, said, “The event is a great opportunity to build team spirit and to create a sense of healthy competition. All corporates in the Cork area are invited to enter a team and to enjoy a great evening of exercise and fun.”

Crumlin's Big Book of Memories
Peter O'Mahony, Niall Scannell and Darren Sweetnam are pictured with Isabelle Whelan (9) in lending their support to our nominated charity CMRF Crumlin and promoting the Crumlin's Big Book of Memories campaign.
The campaign is inviting the nation to also get behind the initiative and commemorate all of the great work the Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin (OLCHC) has done since its inception 60 years ago by recording their memories of the hospital through the virtual memory book online here.
The designated website will enable members of the public to share and read the touching stories which illustrate the hospital’s 60 year existence. From past patients and their loved ones to hospital workers and donors – anyone with a memory of the hospital can get involved, share their memories and help to shape the hospital’s future by donating online.
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to make urgent renovations to the Outpatients Department which was built in the 1960s to accommodate 500 patients per week.
