In Pics: Munster In The Community 2015/16
3rd June 2016 By Munster Rugby
Across the 2015/16 season, Munster players and staff visited and lent their support to a wide list of charities, communities, clubs and schools. Here we look at just a sample of their visits in the past ten months.
As with every season, a number of fundraising events also took place with Munster’s nominated charities for the season – CMRF Crumlin and Headway Ireland – the beneficiaries of the Munster v Leinster charity match, MRSC member Ivan O’Riordan’s photography sale and the MRSC Monster Munster Quiz.
€;1 from each match programme sold at December’s sell-out interprovincial against Leinster at Thomond Park was donated to these worthy causes, raising a total €;3,926.
A further €;5,000 was donated from MRSC photographer Ivan O'Riordan at Munster’s final game of the season against Scarlets in Thomond Park. Ivan has done trojan work over the years with the MRSC, selling autographed prints of his photographs from Munster games to raise money for our nominated charities. Last month’s cheque brings his total raised since May 2012 to over €;15,000.
The MRSC Monster Munster Quiz took place at venues across the 6 counties with proceeds raised also to be donated to CMRF Crumlin and Headway Ireland. The quizzes have now been completed with the total raised to be announced in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the annual Munster Rugby Awards Lunch raised a total of €;8,062 for Breakthrough Cancer Research.
