Johnston Ruled Out
12th June 2016 By Munster Rugby
Munster Greencore Academy player Bill Johnston has been ruled out of the World Rugby U20 Championship after sustaining a dislocated shoulder in Ireland U20’s first ever win against New Zealand U20.
The historic 33-24 victory proved costly for the Clonmel-native with the outhalf suffering a shoulder injury just before half-time.
The Garryowen player had already impressed after only making his Ireland U20 debut on Tuesday, kicking eleven points against Grand Slam winners Wales, and on Saturday followed up with a ten-point tally before his injury-enforced departure against the Baby Blacks.
Disappointingly the young playmaker missed out on 6 Nations inclusion due to a shoulder injury sustained last December and after working tirelessly with the Munster medical and fitness team made a timely return for championship inclusion.
With Johnston returning home Brett Connan of Newcastle Falcons has been added to the squad.
