Saturday Afternoon Kick-Off Times Confirmed For Europe

The dates and kick-off times for Rounds 1 to 4 of the 2016/17 European Rugby Champions Cup have been announced where Munster will face Racing 92, Glasgow Warriors and Leicester Tigers in Pool 1 of the competition.

Rounds 1 to 4 will see the province play both home games on Saturday afternoons with Munster Rugby Commercial and Marketing Manager, Enda Lynch, commenting, “Every season we take feedback from our fans in planning for the following season and negotiating with tournament organisers around fixtures.  A number of challenging kick-off times coupled with Friday and Sunday encounters were not ideal for much of our large travelling support last season. In this instance, we’re happy that Saturday kick-offs at 1pm and 3.15pm along with a large number of Saturday kick offs in the Guinness PRO12 in Thomond Park present a better opportunity for supporters and families to travel from each corner of the province.”

Munster will meet a familiar face from the off when they travel to Paris to face Ronan O’Gara’s Racing 92 in Round 1 on Sunday October 16th at 4.15pm local time.

The following Saturday, October 22nd, Thomond Park will host its first Champions Cup game of the season when Munster face Glasgow Warriors at 1pm.

For the second time in as many seasons, Munster will play Leicester Tigers both home and away in December.  The province will look to make amends for last season’s back-to-back defeats when they host Tigers at Thomond Park on Saturday December 10th at 3.15pm before travelling to Welford Road the following Saturday, October 17th, also at 3.15pm.

The dates and kick off times for Munster’s away trip to Glasgow Warriors and the welcome return of Ronan O’Gara to Thomond Park with Racing 92 will be confirmed in December.
