Move-In Underway At High Performance Centre
5th September 2016 By Munster Rugby
The distance travelled from Munster’s existing UL offices may have been small, but today’s move into a new EUR9.5m purpose built High Performance Centre marks a new era for the province as they hope to reap the rewards from their first ever single training base.
Housing not only the senior squad, the new facility is also home to the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy and North Munster Domestic Game operations with Munster players, coaches and staff today beginning the move into their new surroundings.
The full moving-in process is expected to take a number of weeks.
Speaking recently on the hopes and aspirations for the new centre, Munster Team Manager Niall O’Donovan commented, “The idea of the new High Performance Centre is to get players training together more than twice a week. Training separately had been working for us to a certain degree but when you are up against the standard of teams that you have nowadays, we have to see where we can make any adjustments to improve on-field performances.
“I believe it will help the group dynamic further with players spending more time together, the competitive edge will be enhanced and will add to training sessions. The time spent on commuting will be reduced significantly with a more productive workload achievable during those previously factored in travel-times.”
Incorporating state of the art training facilities, a number of rooms within the High Performance Centre will carry the names of companies who supported the project as part of the Friends of Munster Rugby Programme, namely the Bimeda Gym, the Compu B Video Analysis Suite and the Greencore Group Kitchen.
The Munster Rugby Friends Programme has given Munster supporters the opportunity to be part of this milestone. For more information about Munster Rugby Friends Programme, please contact Clare Rigney by emailing clarerigney@munsterrugby.ie or phone 021-4323563.
