Video & Pics: Munster v Cardiff Blues
12th September 2016 By Munster Rugby
Disappointingly Munster suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Cardiff Blues on Friday night in Cork, after a one-point defeat to the Welsh opposition.
Cardiff and Munster exchanged tries in the opening quarter through Tom James and Andrew Conway respectively before James bagged his second to send the visitors into the interval on a scoreline of 10-17.
A Dave Kilcoyne try saw Munster take the lead for the first time midway through the second half, however a late Dan Fish try, coupled with some missed opportunities for the men in red, would ultimately be the difference as Munster played out a 23-24 defeat to Cardiff Blues in round 2 of the Guinness PRO12.

Commenting on the result, Erasmus said, “It’s disappointing. We’re playing at home after last week and last week’s away win is nullified by losing. It’s doesn’t mean a lot when you win away and lose at home so it’s very disappointing.”
“Taking one of the positives out of it, Sweets certainly played his part. We weren’t happy to defend but we were comfortable to defend. Sweetnam was good, as were some other of the younger guys.”
“If we can maximise the potential we have, that’s our target,” Erasmus noted. “I think a few young guys almost maximised their potential (Friday) but then the result wouldn’t lead to that. If we were only results driven, we’ll lose perspective on games like this and won’t see where we’ve grown and where we went backward. That’s not what we’re about.”
