In its third week of operation the new facility also houses the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy and part of the Domestic Game, with Munster players, coaches and staff all operating from one centre.
Designed by award-winning Dublin architect David Lennon of Reddy Architects & Urbanism, the centre is located adjacent to the existing UL Arena and is part of an overall €;15m construction.
The state-of-the-art training facilities incorporate an extensive gym, medical and physiotherapy treatment rooms, offices, changing rooms, analysis suite, meeting rooms and a 65-seat auditorium.
A number of rooms within the High Performance Centre will carry the names of companies who supported the project as part of the Friends of Munster Rugby Programme, namely the Bimeda Gym, the Compu B Video Analysis Suite and the Greencore Group Kitchen.
Commenting on the centre Munster Rugby CEO Garrett Fitzgerald said, “The High Performance Centre is a symbol of Munster’s ambition on and off the field.
“In continuing to work with the University of Limerick and base our squad here we have access to Ireland’s leading Sports Campus and centre of excellence.
“All requirements are more than catered for in this fit for purpose facility and it is a hugely exciting time for the province with everyone looking forward to this new era for Munster Rugby.”
