Edinburgh took the spoils by a single point on their last visit to Limerick in September 2014, however since then Munster have had the better of their Scottish counterparts.  Shading victory by just two points (14-16) on their most recent visit to Murrayfield, the province needed no less than four tries to overcome an impressive Edinburgh performance in Cork last April.

One man expected to make his first home outing of the season on Saturday is Conor Murray, a prospect the international is relishing.

“Traditionally we have good battles against Edinburgh and we’ve had a few good wins against them as well. We’ll analyse them really well and treat them with the utmost respect and we’ll be ready for every threat they pose. But we’re coming back to Thomond Park at the weekend and we’re in our new High Performance Centre and there’s a new buzz around the place so I think every player is just really excited to be playing in Limerick again. We will study Edinburgh and we’ll look after that and that’s there but there’s just a massive buzz and excitement to get back and play in front of our home crowd.”

Last weekend’s win over Dragons also saw Murray play as part of a new half back partnership, starting alongside recent long-term injury returnee Tyler Bleyendaal.

“I think that was my first start with Tyler since he’s been here, which is strange. I’ve trained with him quite a lot and I knew he knows the game inside out – he’s a really smart player and he’s had a good start to the season. It’s early doors but he’s looking really good and hopefully we can continue that.”
