Senior & Academy AIL Representation

We look back at the weekend’s senior and academy squad representation in Round 2 of the AIL.

In Division 1A, at Temple Hill, Robin Copeland and the academy’s Calvin Nash helped Young Munster to a comprehensive 37-15 win over Cork Con.  Copeland was amongst the try scorers for the Cookies while Con had academy players Shane Daly, Liam O’Connor, Rory Burke and Ned Hodson in their ranks with Daly scoring a brace for the hosts.

Garryowen were another Limerick side who enjoyed success on the road.  The academy’s Sean O’Connor and Steven McMahon travelled with the sky blues to Old Belvedere where they recorded an 11-13 win.

In Division 1B, John Andress and academy back row John Foley lined out for Shannon but the Limerick side endured a tough afternoon at Dubarry Park, losing comprehensively to Buccaneers on a 27-3 score line.  Having picked up an ankle injury in action for Shannon in Round 1, academy fullback Stephen Fitzgerald was unavailable for selection.

Academy tighthead Brian Scott packed down for Dolphin as the Corkmen went down 21-10 to Old Wesley at Donnybrook, while Peter McCabe and UCC also tasted defeat, succumbing to Galwegians 31-14 at Crowley Park.

All three travelling Munster sides suffered defeat in 1B, with just UL Bohs taking spoils, doing so at home to Ballynahinch where they notched up an impressive 38-22 win.
