#MunsterRising Socks Winners Announced
26th October 2016 By Munster Rugby
Life Style Sports today announced the winners of the #MunsterRising Socks competition, which will see the Munster Rugby squad tog out in socks representing local club and school colours for their clash against the Maori All Blacks in Thomond Park on Friday, November 11.
The competition, which was launched in July to celebrate Munster’s partnership with exclusive retail partner Life Style Sports and official kit supplier adidas, will link winning clubs and schools with respective players on the pitch, to see their colours worn by the Munster squad.
A total of 23 clubs and schools from across Munster will be represented on the pitch in Thomond Park thanks to the hundreds of Munster fans who visited the Life Style Sports website to vote for their school or club. Competition winners were chosen at random from people who voted or submitted the entry for each winning club or school.
Along with seeing their colours on the big stage, winning entrants will also enjoy a full match-day experience with VIP tickets, a stadium tour and the opportunity to lay socks out for their assigned player in the Munster dressing room before kick-off.
The momentous fixture marks the Maori All Black’s first visit to Thomond Park since it’s redevelopment in 2008, and follows in the footsteps of international opposition such as the All Blacks and Australia who have previously visited the home of Munster Rugby.
Speaking today, Enda Lynch, Commercial Manager for Munster Rugby said: “Community is at the core of Munster Rugby, and we hold close ties with schools and clubs throughout the province. The idea behind the #MunsterRising socks initiative was to highlight the importance of that connection. We are excited to host the winning clubs and schools for what will undoubtedly be a special night for Munster Rugby.”
Debbie Byrne, Life Style Sports Marketing Director added: “Local rugby clubs and club players as well as schools are the lifeblood of the grassroots game and without it Irish rugby wouldn’t be at the standard it is today. To mark our 5-year exclusive partnership with Munster Rugby, we wanted to celebrate the grassroots players and their role at the heart of the community across the entire Province. This is a unique, real money can’t buy experience and a fantastic opportunity for fans to come closer to the team and become a part of the action”.
