Expect this one to be close, very close.  No more than three points has separated the sides in their last three encounters, and with Glasgow players keen to impress new Head Coach Dave Rennie, Munster Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is expecting arguably his side’s toughest challenge so far this season.

“Last season we played them four times and with the exception of the game in October, every game was so close.

“They have a brand new coach this season and there seems to be an excellent vibe there.  New coaches always bring new energy and apart from that he’s a bloody good coach.  I’ve witnessed him in action, seen his results and know what he can do.  It looks like he’s coaching very much the same style as Gregor (Townsend).

“Away from home, and their 3G pitch – it’s going to be a hell of a challenge for us.”

While the firepower of Munster’s British and Irish Lions – Conor Murray, Peter O’Mahony and CJ Stander – would be greatly welcomed against a side as potent as Glasgow, Erasmus said it’s unlikely any will feature this weekend as he carefully manages the trio’s reintroduction to rugby.

“We are always tempted to introduce them on weekends like this, but we have to think about what’s coming around the corner with Cardiff, Leinster and then a return to Europe.

“It’s not a case of underestimating Glasgow I promise you, but we have to manage these guys carefully if we are to have them the whole season long.”
