Highlights & Pics | Munster v Racing 92
23rd October 2017 By The Editor
Thomond Park again boasted the highest attendance figure across Europe after two rounds of Champions Cup rugby with the 22054 supporters in high spirits and behind the team despite the best efforts of Storm Brian on Saturday.
Munster secured the win in their 160th European encounter after finally breaking Racing 92 down in the 60th minute with a brilliant piece of skill and luck as Conor Murray charged down a Maxime Machenaud kick to gather the scraps and cross for the opening score.
Before kick off players and fans paid tribute to the late Anthony Foley with a minute’s applause as the fixture followed the one-year anniversary of the former head coach’s sudden passing in Paris.
Additionally, thanks to title sponsor Bank of Ireland, a proud partner of Munster Rugby and Irish Heart Foundation, the Munster jersey carried the Irish Heart Foundation logo on the front as a mark of the province’s support in the fight against sudden cardiac death. This was following the recent announcement of a lifesaving legacy in memory of Anthony Foley.
