It was a winning weekend on both fronts with the B&I Cup squad securing a bonus point win against Nottingham on Friday night in Irish Independent Park while the Champions Cup squad claimed a 14-7 victory against Racing 92 in Thomond Park on Saturday evening.

Over the course of both games the Munster faithful turned up in numbers despite the atrocious weather conditions and Storm Brian didn’t deter the travelling support to Limerick on Saturday with the 22054 figure the highest attendance recorded after two rounds of Champions Cup rugby.

On a player return front, prop James Cronin (knee) and locks Darren O’Shea (shoulder) and Jean Kleyn (neck) reported no ill effects following game-time in their respective encounters.

However the medical department reported a number of bumps and bruises following Saturday’s physical encounter against the French opponents with player training loads managed accordingly ahead of Friday’s return to Guinness PRO14 action against Connacht at the Sportsground.

Regarding ongoing injuries, hooker Niall Scannell will undergo surgery today for the thumb injury he sustained in the round one tie against Castres, while Tyler Bleyendaal, who was injured in the same encounter will continue to be managed for a neck injury this week.

Continuing to rehab: Gerbrandt Grobler (ankle), Conor Oliver (shoulder), Dan Goggin (knee), Ronan O’Mahony (fibula), Dave O’Callaghan (knee) and Jaco Taute (knee).
