Squad Update

Ian Keatley has returned to the Irish camp along with Darren Sweetnam and Chris Farrell

Following Friday night’s 49-6 victory over Dragons at Irish Independent Park, the squad are on a down week and will return to training next week.

Earlier today, we confirmed that incoming Head Coach Johann van Graan will join the province the week commencing November 20th as Defence Coach Jacques Nienaber returns to South Africa in the coming days. Full details.

The three players released from Irish camp for the Dragons game – Ian Keatley, Darren Sweetnam and Chris Farrell – have rejoined their eight Munster team-mates in Joe Schmidt’s squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with South Africa.

James Cronin and Brian Scott were both called into the Barbarians squad for Friday night’s match with Tonga at Thomond Park. Full details.

Jack O’Donoghue sustained a minor ankle injury on Friday night and will undergo a precautionary scan this week.

Meanwhile, lock Mark Flanagan has returned to Saracens following a loan spell that saw the Westmeath native feature on six occasions for the province.

Continuing to rehab: Gerbrandt Grobler (ankle), Conor Oliver (shoulder), Dan Goggin (knee), Ronan O’Mahony (fibula), Dave O’Callaghan (knee), Jaco Taute (knee), Niall Scannell (thumb).

Along with the squad of 23 involved in Friday night’s win over Dragons, there were also a number of senior players in All Ireland League action on Saturday.

Mike Sherry made an appearance off the bench for Garryowen and Bill Johnston started at out-half in their 32-22 loss to Lansdowne in Division 1A.

Hooker Duncan Casey scored two tries for Shannon with Ciaran Parker starting alongside him in the front row with Stephen Fitzgerald at full-back as they defeated Banbridge 33-14 in Division 1B.

David Johnston did not play this weekend due to a dead leg.
