With just four rounds of the Guinness PRO14 remaining, Munster welcome reigning champions Scarlets to Thomond Park on Saturday evening eager to maintain second-place in Conference A.

With runaway leaders Glasgow Warriors well clear in top spot, Head Coach Johann van Graan will be looking for his side to cement second spot which would secure a home play-off for a semi-final spot.

Third-placed Cheetahs are now just seven points behind the province and with Munster undertaking a two-week tour to face both South African clubs next month, a win on Saturday would provide a welcome boost.

Scarlets also occupy second place in Conference B and cannot afford to lose any ground on Leinster with Edinburgh hot on their heels in third place.

The game is a repeat of last year’s PRO12 final with the Welsh side emerging victorious at the Aviva Stadium. Head Coach Wayne Pivac also guided the side to victory in their last visit to Thomond Park in February 2017.

However, Munster have won 12 of their 13 home games in the PRO14 and Champions Cup so far this season and will be hoping that strong home form can see them qualify for the PRO14’s Final Series in May.

Did you know?

Munster’s last eight matches in all competitions have all been won by the home side on the day whilst their only home defeat since February 2017 was to Leinster in the PRO14 on St Stephen’s Day 2017.

Scarlets have not won away from home in the Championship since a trip to Cardiff Blues on New Year’s Eve.

Scarlets won on their most recent visit to Thomond Park in February 2017, something they had not done at the venue since September 2003.
