The new adidas Munster Rugby European and Alternate jerseys were today unveiled completing the province’s playing range for the 2018/19 campaign.

The designs of the two new Munster Rugby kits were inspired by Thomond Park and the Cliffs of Moher with both going on sale Exclusively at Life Style Sports from tomorrow (Friday).

As part of the unveiling the Munster Rugby squad and their friends and family will attend a special event hosted by Exclusive retail partner Life Style Sports tonight. The event, held in Life Style Sports’ flagship store in the Capitol building on Patrick Street in Cork, will see the players get a first glance of the new 2018/19 European and Alternate kits the night before they go on sale.

European Kit

The new European jersey will be worn for the next two seasons and takes design inspiration from the club’s fortress, Thomond Park, with the province celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the stadium’s redevelopment this year. The vivid red adidas jersey has a hint of navy and gold detail throughout, inspired by the mix of vibrant and recognisable seat colours in the stands of Thomond Park. Supporters have experienced sublime highs and witnessed epic battles at the venue for many years. The famous Munster Rugby passion is synonymous with the venue and the new European jersey pays tribute to the battle ground that is Thomond Park.

Alternate Kit

Inspiration for the new adidas Alternate jersey was taken from the province’s scenic Cliffs of Moher. Detail on the front of the jersey symbolises the layered foundations of the Cliffs and the colour reflects the copper ore mined in Munster over 400 years ago – an iconic jersey, for an iconic province.

Home Kit

The Home jersey remains the same for the 2018/19 season and will continue to be worn by the Munster senior men’s team, senior women’s team and the province’s underage girls and boys sides. The all-red kit draws inspiration from the province’s rich heritage and shares the same Latin motto; “forte fideli nihil difficil” or “to the brave and faithful nothing is impossible,” that once decorated the ancient battle shield of one of Munster’s greatest families, the McCarthy clan.

On Sale

All three kits including the latest training wear and associated supporters range, created by adidas, will be available Exclusively at Life Style Sports from 9am tomorrow morning. Adult replica jerseys are priced €75, kids €55 – €65 and Test, as worn by the players, priced €100.

The team will wear the Alternate kit for the first time against the Exeter Chiefs at Irish Independent Park on August 24th in the second game of the Kearys Renault Series 2018.

The training range, available from tomorrow, closely matches the vibrant Alternate jersey and has been worn by the squad throughout pre-season as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. The new playing and training range includes an increase in the sizes available across a number of training wear pieces this year. The new training range is available from €35.

Commenting on the new jerseys, Mark Stafford CEO of Life Style Sports, said: “These new jerseys are iconic and I have no doubt that this season they will play a part in creating Munster Rugby history both on the pitch for players and off the pitch for supporters. At Life Style Sports we are proud to have the squad, coaching team and families in store tonight as part of the jersey unveiling, but we are equally as proud to bring these jerseys, along with the training wear to supporters both in Ireland and further afield.

“We are 100% proudly Irish owned and our core values fully align with the values Munster Rugby represent both on and off the pitch. This is what makes a partnership of this level work so well for both club, supporters and Life Style Sports. Our passion is in supporting the supporters, which will be brought to life this coming season through various activity in our ‘Live Munster’ campaign, through this we hope to embody the passion, pride and the spirt that is Munster Rugby. Bringing to life that iconic red thread that so tightly connects all that is Munster Rugby.”

Munster Rugby Head of Commercial and Marketing, Doug Howlett, added: “We are delighted with our new adidas training and playing range and I’m sure our supporters will be just as excited as we are with the new kit.

”Our complete 2018/19 range will be available for supporters Exclusively at Life Style Sports from tomorrow and with an increased number of sizes available, we are delighted to be catering for as many Munster fans as possible.”
