The Munster squad started their preparations yesterday ahead of Sunday’s return to Champions Cup action against French champions Castres Olympique at Thomond Park.

The medical department have issued the following update ahead of Sunday’s game.

Mike Haley was replaced at half-time of Friday night’s Guinness PRO14 game against Edinburgh due to a suspected concussion. He has been assessed by the medical department and will undergo the return to play protocols.

Andrew Conway departed on Friday night following a knee contusion and has been assessed by the medical department. The winger will return to training this week.

Stephen Archer has been unable to train due to illness.

Alby Mathewson is rehabbing from a calf injury and will look to reintegrate into training over the next few weeks.

Darren Sweetnam is recovering from a back injury and continues to be monitored by the medical department.

With James Cronin rehabbing a leg injury, Jeremy Loughman has been nominated by the province as an additional player for round 3 of the Champions Cup with Cronin deregistered.

A mix of senior and Academy players were in All Ireland League at the weekend with a total of 15 players playing club rugby.

Brian Scott, Alex McHenry and Shane Daly helped Cork Con to a 16-13 win away to Clontarf in Division 1A of the All Ireland League.

Eoghan Clarke and Jack Stafford featured for Shannon in their 32-15 loss to Lansdowne.

Conor Oliver, Matt More, Ben Healy, Diarmuid Barron and Sean O’Connor helped Garryowen to a 17-16 win away to Terenure College with Healy kicking four penalties.

Calvin Nash was a try-scorer for Young Munster in their 34-all draw with UCD with Alan Tynan and Keynan Knox also featuring for the Cookies.

In Division 2A, James McCarthy was in action for UL Bohemians as they fell to a 24-20 loss to Cashel.

Jonathan Wren made his comeback from injury for the Cork Con U20s at the weekend.

Jack Daly was in international action at the weekend with the Kerry back-row helping the Ireland Sevens team win the Dubai 7s International Invitational trophy.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Liam O’Connor (knee), James Cronin (leg) Rhys Marshall (hamstring), Jean Kleyn (thumb), Tommy O’Donnell (ankle) Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’ Callaghan (foot) James Hart (knee), Dan Goggin (knee), Stephen Fitzgerald (foot).
