The Munster squad returned to training at the High Performance Centre in Limerick today ahead of Friday’s Champions Cup clash against Gloucester at Kingsholm (7.45pm).

The Munster Rugby Medical Department have issued the below update following Saturday’s win over Connacht at the Sportsground.

John Ryan was removed as a precaution for a head injury assessment in the first half of Saturday night’s game. He has completed the HIA process and has been cleared to train.

Chris Farrell suffered a right knee injury and will be assessed by the medical department today.

Chris Cloete (neck) will be reintegrated into team training this week.

JJ Hanrahan is currently being assessed by the medical department for a left hip injury.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg) Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’Callaghan (foot).

Munster Players In Club Action

12 Munster senior and Academy players were involved in Saturday’s Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup final as Cork Constitution earned a 26-23 victory over Garryowen at Thomond Park.

Senior player Liam O’Connor and Academy players Sean French, Alex McHenry and Jonathan Wren featured for Cork Con in the win with French among the try-scorers.

Senior players Neil Cronin and Conor Oliver lined out for Garryowen along with Academy men Liam Coombes, Matt More, Ben Healy, Diarmuid Barron, Sean O’Connor and Jack Daly. Healy kicked 13 points with Coombes touching down.

Munster A will face Leinster A in a challenge match this Friday, January 11, at 2pm in Thomond Park.

For the second time this season Thomond Park has sold out two weeks in advance of a fixture, with Munster’s Round 6 Champions Cup clash against Exeter Chiefs set for a capacity crowd of 26,267 on Saturday, January 19.
