Peter O'Mahony salutes the Munster supporters at Kingsholm on Friday night.

The Munster squad returned to training at the High Performance Centre in Limerick today ahead of Saturday’s crucial Champions Cup clash against Exeter Chiefs at a sold-out Thomond Park (5.30pm).

With additional seating installed, a record-equalling crowd of 26,267 will attend the clash.

Peter O’Mahony will undergo a scan this morning on the rib injury he sustained against Gloucester on Friday night. Head Coach Johann van Graan has said that the Munster captain’s chances of playing on Saturday are “50-50, at best”.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’ Callaghan (foot), JJ Hanrahan (hip).

Along with the 23 players that faced Gloucester in the Champions Cup on Friday, 12 senior squad members were also in action at Thomond Park as Munster A defeated Leinster A 26-22 in an Interpro clash.

Alex Wootton, Calvin Nash, Ronan O’Mahony, Bill Johnston, Neil Cronin, Liam O’Connor, Kevin O’Byrne, Ciaran Parker, Darren O’Shea, Conor Oliver, Mike Sherry and Ian Keatley all featured.

Eight Munster Rugby Academy players played in the clash – Matt More, Alex McHenry, Sean O’Connor, Gavin Coombes, Keynan Knox, Jack Stafford, Liam Coombes and Sean French.

Two Academy players were also in club action on Saturday with Ben Healy and Diarmuid Barron helping Garryowen to a 14-12 Bateman Cup semi-final win over Lansdowne at Dooradoyle.
