Munster Rugby have teamed up with Nominated Charity Partner the Irish Cancer Society to urge the public to be SunSmart when outdoors this summer.

All participants at this year’s Bank of Ireland Munster Rugby summer camps will be provided with free sunscreen as part of their goody bag.

The Irish Cancer Society said it is important to follow the Sunsmart Code during the summer months, even on cloudy days. It says this is even more important for people playing sports, attending camps or taking part in outdoor leisure activities.

The Code advises people to seek shade, use sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses and cover up with a long sleeve or collar. The Society warned that repeated sunburn can lead to an increased risk of skin cancer in later life

The partnership is supported by La Roche Posay.
