Did you know?

Munster and Edinburgh have faced off in two knock-out games over the past two years with Munster earning four-point victories on both occasions. The province won last season’s Champions Cup quarter-final between the sides 17-13 at Murrayfield and were 20-16 victors in the 2017/18 PRO14 quarter-final.

Team Line-Ups

Both sides will be named at noon on Thursday.

Preview

It’s a clash of two of the top three in Guinness PRO14 Conference B and Edinburgh will travel to Cork full of confidence having run Munster extremely close in last season’s Champions Cup quarter-final.

Having been in Challenge Cup action over the past two weekends, Edinburgh will be pleased with their form in Europe and their form is remarkably similar to Munster’s.

The Scottish side started the competition with a 31-10 victory away to Agen with the four-try bonus point secured late on, almost identical to the fashion in which Munster overcame Ospreys 28-12 at the Liberty Stadium.

Edinburgh, like Munster, drew their second game at home to a French club as Murrayfield was the venue for a 16-all draw with Bordeaux Begles.

Two old friends are set to cross paths on Friday night with Munster Forwards Coach Graham Rowntree and Edinburgh Head Coach Richard Cockerill former team-mates and coaching colleagues at Leicester Tigers.
