Munster man and Ireland international CJ Stander has been named an Honorary Limerick Man at the Limerick Person of the Year awards.

A resident of Limerick since joining Munster Rugby in 2012, Stander had previously been made an Honorary International Ambassador for Limerick in 2017.

Accepting the award, CJ said: “It is a big honour for me and my family.

“It has been a big, big pleasure living in a lovely city like Limerick.

“Thanks to everyone who made us welcome since day one and thank you for all the support you have given me personally and, secondly, as a team with Munster.”

Stander has scored 42 tries in 153 Munster appearances and will retire at the end of the season, returning home to South Africa.

The 31-year-old earned 51 Ireland caps since making his international debut in 2016 and won Munster Rugby’s Player of the Year award a record three times.
