Dave Kilcoyne In Line To Join 200 Club

If selected, Dave Kilcoyne will become the 12th Munster player to join the 200 club against Wasps at Thomond Park on Sunday afternoon.

A graduate of the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy, Kilcoyne has scored 21 tries in 199 games for Munster and has also earned 45 Ireland caps.

Kilcoyne turned 33 last month and has started in eight of Munster’s 10 games so far this campaign.

He is the second-most capped player in the current squad behind Stephen Archer (236).

A UL Bohemian clubman and former Ardscoil Rís pupil, ‘Killer’ made his debut against Connacht in 2011 in a Munster side that also included current team-mates Keith Earls and Simon Zebo in John Hayes’ final appearance for the province.

He won the British & Irish Cup with Munster A in 2012 before establishing himself as a first-team regular in 2012/13, making his Champions Cup debut against Racing Metro at the Stade de France in October 2012

After a debut season that saw Kilcoyne make four appearances in 2011/12, he went on to make an incredible 152 appearances in the following six years, averaging over 25 appearances a season.

Kilcoyne made his Ireland debut against South Africa in the 2012 November series, featured in his first 6 Nations in 2013 and finished his season with a touring place to North America.

The Limerick prop made the most appearances in 2013/14, playing in 30 of Munster’s 31 games and earning a place on the 2013/14 PRO12 Dream Team.

Earned further caps for Ireland on the summer tour to Argentina in June 2014 and the November Series victories over South Africa and Georgia, scoring his first try for Ireland in the game against Georgia.

He again made the most appearances for Munster during the 2016/17 season, playing his part in 31 games and starting 21.

Killer featured in all three Tests of Ireland’s Summer Tour to the USA and Japan in 2017 and scored his 20th Munster try on his 150th appearance for the province in April 2018 against the Southern Kings.

An excellent 2018/19 season saw Kilcoyne make 23 Munster appearances and earn a nomination for the Guinness PRO14 Dream Team.

Featured in all five 2019 Six Nations games and played in all of Ireland’s games at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Included in the Ireland Rugby World Cup squad that travelled to Japan in 2019 and featured in all five games.

Featured for Ireland in the 2021 6 Nations and the Vodafone Summer Series and has mad eight Munster appearances already this season.

Kilcoyne will be hoping to continue racking up the appearances having signed a three-year contract extension in March 2020 that keeps him at Munster until at least June 2023.

Update on milestone achievement – Kilcoyne had to withdraw from the Wasps game due to illness and made his 200th appearance against Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship in Thomond Park in February.
