The Munster travelling party have arrived home from South Africa after a two-week tour that saw Graham Rowntree’s men pick up seven points of a possible 10 to secure fifth-place in the URC.
It was the second trip to South Africa in the past four weeks as Munster secured a bonus-point win over reigning champions Stormers in Cape Town before getting the two points we required in the final game thanks to a draw against Sharks in Durban.
The results continued Munster’s strong form in the second half of the campaign, making it eight wins and a draw from the final 11 URC games.
Closer to home, there were eight Greencore Munster Rugby Academy players in AIL play-off action at the weekend.
Shay McCarthy, Fionn Gibbons and Conor Phillips started for Young Munster as they were beaten by Clontarf in their Division 1A semi-final.
Daniel Hurley was in action for Cork Constitution as they lost to Terenure in their 1A semi-final.
Ethan Coughlan, Darragh McSweeney and Daniel Okeke helped Shannon defeat Old Wesley in their 1A promotion/relegation play-off semi-final.
Evan O’Connell helped UL Bohemians beat Sligo in their 2A promotion/relegation play-off semi-final.
