Several projects are underway to improve facilities across the organisation and to meet our sustainability goals. See the latest operations update below.

Read last year’s Operations Update here.

Cork Centre of Excellence

A revised planning application was submitted to incorporate offices in the new Cork Centre of Excellence and a decision on that planning is due in the coming month.

Once that is granted, a final decision on the facilities within the COE will be made with the tender process due to commence over the summer.

Subject to no delays in any of the above, we would hope that the project will commence in late October and be complete in summer 2024.

The new facility will be built primarily for Munster Rugby’s underage sides and the surrounding community with local clubs, schools and community groups set to benefit.

Fethard Town Park

The Fethard Town Park development is now complete with the official opening happening this Sunday. It is an all-inclusive multipurpose shared municipal facility, see full details here.

There is a Munster Rugby Excellence camp taking place in the facility this week with further activity and matches scheduled over the summer months.

Limerick Centre of Excellence

There has been positive feedback on our planning application for the Limerick Centre of Excellence and we have been granted planning permission from Limerick City and County Council for the project.

It is hoped that this development will commence next year once all the funding and agreements are in place.

The proposed new facility would be built primarily for Munster’s underage and development sides, and the surrounding community with local clubs, schools and community groups set to benefit.

Thomond Park & Musgrave Park Concerts

Eight concerts take place at Musgrave Park this month with Florence & The Machine and Paolo Nutini among the star acts.

Three Dermot Kennedy concerts will be held at Thomond Park next month with well over 150k attendees expected between both venues for the concerts.

Sustainability Initiatives

On the sustainability front, Pinergy have installed over 630 solar panels on the roof of the West Stand and East Terrace in Musgrave Park.

It is hoped that these will be connected to the grid shortly whereby they will then become fully active.

We are also in the process of moving our vehicle fleet over to Electric Vehicles and will have an update on that in the coming months.
