Squad Update | AIL Returns & Team Training Resumes

The Munster squad returned to training at the HPC on Monday morning following a down week with 12 days until the URC opener against Sharks at Thomond Park on Saturday, October 21 (5.15pm).

There were five Munster players in World Cup action at the weekend as 100-cap Peter O’Mahony and Tadhg Beirne both started Ireland’s win over Scotland with Jack Crowley, Dave Kilcoyne and Conor Murray featuring off the bench.

The men’s AIL season kicked off at the weekend with 11 Munster players involved.

In Division 1A, Academy prop Kieran Ryan and back-row forward Daniel Okeke helped Shannon to a 27-22 victory over UCD.

Senior hooker Chris Moore and Academy back-row forward Ruadhán Quinn scored tries for Young Munster with senior prop Keynan Knox and Academy centre Fionn Gibbons also in action as they lost away to Lansdowne.

Academy scrum-half Jack Oliver kicked a conversion and a penalty with Academy prop George Hadden also starting as Garryowen were beaten by Highfield in a Munster derby.

In Division 1B, senior hooker Scott Buckley and Academy full-back Ben O’Connor were in action for UCC as they lost to Blackrock College.

In Division 2A, Academy lock Evan O’Connell started for UL Bohs as they were beaten by Nenagh Ormond.
