Unity Round

As part of the United Rugby Championship’s Take On Tomorrow programme, and the wider ambition to promote inclusion in sport, the BKT URC are delighted to announce the return of the Unity Round this weekend.

Round 2 fixtures of the URC are dedicated to promoting inclusivity in sport and supporting the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign, in a commitment to ensuring our games are viewed as a welcome space for every person to enjoy.

Players, match officials and team management have been provided with rainbow coloured laces which they can use to lace-up their boots and trainers, they can also make use of rainbow coloured strapping to further showcase their support for the campaign.

At match venues, URC branding will proudly incorporate the rainbow progress flag in addition to the rebranding of the assistant referee flags. The BKT URC social channels also now bear the rainbow colours in celebration of this weekend’s Unity Round.

Did you know?

Head Coach Marco Bortolami is building a very strong team with Treviso coming back to win 23-22 in Cardiff last week despite trailing 19-3 in the first half.

The Italian side beat Ulster and Perpignan in pre-season and recruited well over the summer with Malakai Fekitoa among the new additions after joining from Munster.

Scrum-half Andy Uren was signed from Bristol and was Player of the Match against Cardiff last week.

A number of their Italian internationals played last week so Benetton will have a very strong squad to choose from.

Munster have won our last four United Rugby Championship games since their 22-all draw with Sharks in Durban in April.

The 38-26 defeat to Glasgow in March has been our only URC loss so far this calendar year.

Six Academy players featured in last week’s bonus-point win over Sharks.
