Bank of Ireland today announced a five-year extension of its main partnership agreement with Munster Rugby to run until 2028.

The Bank has a long association with the province, dating back to 1998, and today’s announcement reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to the game across all levels in Munster.

A feature of the renewed agreement will see Bank of Ireland build on its existing support for Women’s rugby in Ireland by also becoming the main sponsor of the Munster Rugby Senior Women’s team. The new partnership term with Munster Rugby further builds on the Bank’s recently announced national partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union.

The new agreements represent the most comprehensive sponsorship of Men’s and Women’s sport in Ireland. They see Bank of Ireland broaden its support from the grassroots, schools and clubs right up to the Provincial and Ireland Men’s and Women’s teams – representing a significant investment by the Bank in ensuring that rugby continues to thrive all over the island of Ireland and continues to make a positive contribution to sporting communities nationwide.

Speaking at the official launch of the Munster Rugby sponsorship extension, Laura Lynch, Bank of Ireland Chief Marketing Officer said: “Bank of Ireland’s commitment to supporting Munster Rugby has steadily grown over recent decades, and we are thrilled to extend this sponsorship agreement for another five years. Adding the sponsorship of the Munster Rugby Women’s side is further evidence of our commitment to the province.”

“Through our sponsorship we aim to support the growth and development of the game, building on existing successes and ensuring that players from all over the island of Ireland, from local schools and clubs all the way up to the men’s and women’s provincial and national sides have every opportunity to #neverstopcompeting.”

Ian Flanagan, CEO of Munster Rugby said; “Munster Rugby is delighted to continue our long relationship with Bank of Ireland as our Main Partner, which is more than 25 years strong, and is proof of our shared commitment to strengthening rugby in the province. The Bank’s investment in our development programmes is essential as we build pathways for the next generation of talent in Munster. We look forward to celebrating many shared successes in the years to come.”
