Hear from Munster’s Interim Head Coach Ian Costello and winger Thaakir Abrahams ahead of Saturday’s Round 1 Investec Champions Cup fixture.

Munster will face Stade Français at Thomond Park, 5.30pm kick-off.

Costello spoke about Munster’s preparations ahead of the first pool match of the European tournament, and what the team and coaching staff expect from the game.

“Stade Français have a good pack and set piece, but they really come to life around transition/unstructured play, much like the Emirates Lions, in fact half their tries come from that. Stade also probably have a bit more x-factor around some individuals like their wingers.

“What we have been doing during last three weeks of training has been all about enhancing the unstructured part of our game. This really showed on Saturday, where we got three tries from unstructured attack. Hopefully what we saw in tough conditions against Lions transfers into a great challenge on Saturday.”

Abrahams reflected on his time so far at the province, having joined in the summer from Top 14 French outfit, Lyon. In last weekend’s game against the Emirates Lions he returned from injury and scored his debut try for the club.
