Squad Update | Munster Begin Prep For Edinburgh In Cork

The Munster squad have started preparations at the HPC ahead of Friday week’s URC Round 12 clash against Edinburgh at Virgin Media Park (7.35pm).

Following Saturday’s bonus-point win over Scarlets, Munster’s fourth win in five URC games, the province have moved up to fifth in the table with seven games remaining in the regular season.

Three players picked up knocks at Thomond Park on Saturday. Tom Ahern was removed following a failed HIA and will undergo the return to play protocols. Diarmuid Kilgallen (thigh) and Jack O’Donoghue (ankle) are going for scans this week.

Gavin Coombes and John Hodnett have joined Tadhg Beirne, Jack Crowley, Conor Murray, Calvin Nash and Peter O’Mahony in Ireland camp. It is Hodnett’s first involvement with the senior side. Craig Casey, who is continuing to rehab a knee injury, is also with the Ireland squad over the coming days.

Munster Attack Coach Mike Prendergast is with the Ireland A squad as their Head Coach/Attack Coach along with eight Munster players.

Diarmuid Barron, Shane Daly, Brian Gleeson, Oli Jager, Alex Kendellen, Evan O’Connell, Ben O’Connor and Fineen Wycherley have all been included in the Ireland A squad. They face England A in Bristol on Sunday at 1pm. There will be live coverage on Rugby Pass.

On the Energia AIL front, there were eight Munster players in action for their clubs at the weekend.

In Division 1A, Mark Donnelly started for Cork Constitution in their 15-13 loss away to Clontarf.

Gordon Wood, Dylan Hicks, Jack Oliver and George Hadden started for Garryowen as they were beaten 17-12 by Ballynahinch with Cian Hurley making a welcome return from a long-term knee injury as a replacement. Oliver kicked a conversion for Garryowen.

Ruadhán Quinn started for Young Munster as they lost 29-14 away to Lansdowne.

In Division 1B, Seán Edogbo featured for UCC in their 29-24 win over Naas.
