The Mini Rugby section of the North Munster Branch held their Annual general meeting last Monday night in the Branch offices in Thomond Park.
This is the third season for mini rugby in our area and they are growing stronger each year. Two years ago they had thirteen clubs participating and since last season have gone from fifteen to sixteen with the introduction of Newport RFC this season. Once again they are catering for all five age groups, from Under 8 up to and including Under 12.
The meeting was well attended with over twenty five people there and all sixteen represented.
The following officers were elected:
Chairperson: Paul Borderick Secretary: Vinnie Leonard PRO: Mick McLoughlin Club Day coordinator: John Airey
They distributed their Information Booklet for this season at this meeting. Once again it covers the Laws and refereeing guidelines of Mini rugby. As usual it contains all the clubs details with the fixtures, coaches’ names, and phone numbers and also has the Code of Conduct for all involved. To repeat their message from last year their fixtures are not Blitzes but are called Club Days with three or four clubs at each venue.
This ensures that each player gets a minimum of two games to participate in per day. There are some modifications in the book from previous years – coaching tips, scrum and line-out emphasis and a season plan. For further copies you can contact Mick McLoughlin on 087-7594940
