Munster won 38-12 at the Sportsground. A game played in three periods, 40 min, 30min, 30 min. Keith wood opened the scoring with a try after 10 minutes followed by one from Anthony Horgan after 22 minutes both converted by Jason Holland.

A third try from Conrad O’Sullivan O’Sullivan left Munster leading 19-0 before Connacht hit back with a try just before the end of the opening period from Conor Loughlin.

Connacht did adopt spoiling tactics to some good effect but three Jason Jones Hughes tries left them 38-5 in front before Connacht scored a consolation try from Henry Bourke.

Bad news from a Munster point of view was that Jason Holland who was operating in the centre limped off with an ankle injury at the start odf the second period and he was folllowed off by out-half Conrad O’Sullivan which leaves Munster in a very precarious situation in relation to the number 10 jersey with the Celtic League opener against Leinster in seven days time.
