St. Munchin’s retained the Bowen Shield with a deserved 15-6 victory over C.B.C at Woodleigh Park, while C.B.C and Ard Scoil Rís must meet again in the Under 14 League Final after the sides played out a 5-5 draw at Temple Hill.
An impressive performance from St. Munchin’s saw them score three tries in their Bowen Shield victory. Ronan Costello put them ahead with a try mid way through the opening half. A penalty from CBC’s out half Mark O’Donovan on the stroke of half time left the score 5-3 at the interval.
The Limerick side went further ahead with a try from their inspirational skipper Ger Slattery. O’Donovan kept Christians in touch with a second penalty. Excellent work by half backs Michael Kinsell and Paul Rowley kept the Cork side pinned back in their own half and Kinsell made sure of victory with his side’s third try.
The Under 14 Final ended in stalemate, with the Limerick side failing to win for the first time this season. The heavier Ard Scoil Rís held the upper hand through out, but great defensive work by Christians kept them in the contest.
Darren Loftus gave the Cork school the lead with a try five minutes before the break, but on the stroke of half time, Alec Joyce tied up the scores with a try. The likely date for the replay is Wednesday next and on confirmation, details will be published on the site.
