Having lost their four previous semi-finals, Bruff made amends on the fifth attempt by reaching the final of the Heineken Munster Junior Cup with a deserved 21-9 win over Tralee at Musgrave Park.

They will now face Nenagh Ormond in the decider at Thomond Park with May 2nd being the most likely date for this eagerly awaited clash. Brendan Deady and Michael Carroll scored tries for Bruff and Michael Lynch kicked three penalties and a conversion.

Alan O’Sullivan replied with two penalties and a drop goal for the Kerry side. Bandon booked themselves a home semi-final tie against Cashel next week in the semi-final of the Munster Junior Plate after their 20-9 win away to Mallow.

The First Division side did all the damage in the opening half and led 20-0 at the interval. Garryowen won their seventh Munster Seconds League title after they defeated Cork Constitution 25-12 in a play off at Temple Hill. Skibbereen were pushed all the way, before booking their place in the next round of the Cork County Cup with a hard earned 19-13 win over Charleville.

Crosshaven also advanced defeating Kanturk 27-0. There were plenty of shocks in the Junior Two Cup. Muskerry defeated newly crowned league champions Cobh Pirates 10-6 and Dolphin staged a great second half come back to beat Cork Constitution 24-5. U.C.C. got the better of Bantry Bay 12-7. Newcastle West will meet Nenagh Ormond in the final of the O’Carroll Plate.

The West Limerick side defeated Thomond 22-20, while Nenagh needed extra time to see off Shannon 20-19. Tralee caused a major upset in the Junior Three Cup, when they defeated holders U.C.C. 23-5. Bandon also advanced at the expense of Carrigaline by 19-9.
