U.C.C. Failed to take the opportunity of going to the top of the Second Division of the AIL, when they lost their Colours game to Trinity 20-9 at the Mardyke. Thomond eased their relegation worries with a 14-5 home win over Terenure, but Midleton lost again, this time away to Bective Rangers 20-7. Highfield are the now top of the Third Division, after their 28-15 home win over Skerries and Clonakilty’s surprise 28-5 away win over leaders Banbridge.

In the Munster Junior Cup a try from Ian Dowling and three Darragh Clancy penalties saw Shannon defeat Garryowen at Dooradoyle 13-6. Shannon will now face Kilfeacle in the next round, after the Tipperary side defeated Abbeyfeale 8-0. Tries from Morgan Colbert, Damien Smith and Dave Lane helped Midleton to a 20-17 win over neighbours Cobh Pirates.

A Peter Twomey try gave Old Christians the edge in their 7-3 win at home to Clonmel. A late drop goal by Barry Clifford helped UCC to an 8-6 win away to Bandon. Holders Cork Constitution ran in eleven tries in their 55-0 win away to Dunmanway. Six penalties from Sean Barry gave Youghal the edge over Clonakilty as they ran out 18-15 winners. A last minute try from Rory Langford earned Highfield an 18-17 victory over Ballincollig. Three Paul O’Rourke penalties and a Mick Manning drop goal was enough for Dolphin as they beat Muskerry 12-8.

Three late tries saw Sunday’s Well come from behind to beat Kanturk 20-16. Crosshaven were always in control of their tie with Douglas emerging 23-7 winners. Skibbereen had to with stand a late rally from Charleville, before seeing off the home side 23-21.

Tralee reversed their Challenge Cup defeat with a 23-15 win away to Mallow and Castleisland recorded their first victory of the season with an 18-0 home win over Fermoy. Conor Cullen grabbed two tries in Kinsale’s 24-14 win against Carrick-on-Suir and Waterpark won the South East derby defeating Dungarvan 27-5.

Bruff regained the Transfield Cup with a 33-5 win over Young Munster. Michael lynch the former Young Munster player did most of the dame scoring three tries and four conversions.
