Shannon Lose Scrumhalf
In move which has shocked people within Shannon RFC scrumhalf Fiach O Loughlin has informed the club that he intends to transfer to Clontarf for the coming season.
Citing his disappointment at not being considered for a professional contract for either Munster or Connacht and an opportunity , whilst playing with Clontarf , to be in the reckoning for a Leinster contract was his main reason for his departure from the 7 times All Ireland League winning club.
Coming on the back of several other high profile departures , most notably Tom Hayes to Plymouth Albion , hooker Nigel Conroy to Rotherham and John Lacey to Clanwilliam, this move has been greeted with disappointment , but notwithstanding that , the Club wish him well in his future endeavours.
A player with the Club since the age of 8, Fiach has been an integral part of Shannon s most recent successes. He has played Munster Schools and Irish Schools as well as captaining the Irish U/19 s in 2002. He has won 3 AIL medals and 4 Munster senior cups and will certainly be an asset to Clontarf.
