Wishing Cullen Well.

Wishing Cullen Well.

While it was great news to hear last week about Munster managing to get a hold of Brian Lima for the knock out stages of the Heineken Cup, I must say I feel totally gutted for Christian Cullen.

I watched the game in Cardiff and feared the worst when I saw him coming off because he is the sort of player who would not leave the field unless he was in serious pain. And so it turned out.

A lot of people have being critical of him, unfairly so in my opinion, and I believe they will only realise his importance to the side now that he is missing.

I have watched him closely since he arrived here and his awareness and lines of running are light years ahead of anything we have in Ireland or Britain. No disrespect to his Munster colleagues, but I think that if he were playing in the Leinster backline he would be the leading try scorer in Celtic League and Heineken Cup and people would be raving about.

No wonder then that Alan Gaffney has tried to introduce a wider dimension to the Munster game in order to capitalise on Cullen s genius.

Anyway, it is a great shame we will not see him play for a while but I wish him the best of luck with his recovery and I for one can t wait for next season to see him back in Munster red.

Get well soon Christian.
