Contepomi To Miss Second Test
27th May 2007 By Munster Rugby
The good news for Ireland ahead of the second Test in Buenos Aires in that they will not have to face Felipe Contepomi who returns to Ireland this week to be conferred with his medical degree.
It would be fair to say that had that conferring ceremony been in the week of the first Test and the Leinster out-half ruled out, then Ireland would have been comfortable winners at the Estadio Brigadier Estanislao Lopez on Saturday night. Contepomi simply ran the show for a Puma side who posed no threat outside the number 10 slot while up front the Irish gave as good and in most cases better than they got.
Hernan Senillosa, the Puma try scorer from Santa Fe will not be in the side next weekend but coach Marcel Loffreda has decided to include 10 of those who were part of the starting XV in Santa Fe on Saturday plus the Biarritz trio Martin Gaitan, Mario Bosch and Manuel Carizza
Argentina squad: H Agulla (Hindu), M Ayerza (Leicester Tigers), M Gaitan, M Bosch, M Carizza (all Biarritz), M Schustermann, P Bouza (both Leeds Tykes), M Contepomi (Rovigo), T De Vedia (Saracens), M Durand, F Todeschini (both Montpellier), JM Fernandez Lobbe (Sale Sharks), N Fernandez Miranda (Aviron Bayonnais Rugby), E Lozada, P Gambarini (both CASI), S Gonzalez Bonorino (Capitolina), E Guinazu (Agen), P Henn (Montauban), JM Leguizamon (London Irish), F Leonelli (Glasgow Warriors), F Serra (SIC), N Vergallo (Jockey Club Rosario).
