Dragons Looking For Top Three Spot.
26th April 2007 By Munster Rugby
Although Newport-Gwent Dragons cannot play a part in the title race they are only eight points behind Llanaelli Scarlets, and with a game in hand, will be looking to end a three game losing streak on Saturday in Musgrave Park as they look to overhaul the Scarlets and finish as third placed Welsh region.
THe Dragons have announced a 24-man squad for their trip to Musgrave Park to take on Munster on Saturday (5pm). They have latest injury worries with Nic Fitisemanu ruled out for the season with a broken hand while Nathan Brew picked up an ankle injury in Challenge Cup semi final game against Clermont. Lee Harrison is also unavailable for the Magners League game as he has an ankle injury.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game coach Paul Turner said, “Cork is always a daunting place to go to, as daunting as Thomond Park and we have to be up for the challenge. I feel we have come a long way this season and now is the time that the squad comes to the fore. We need to establish a level of performance that will take us into the last three games where we face two of our local rivals and in-between Irish province Connacht. Players have been made aware that a good performance is vital and hopefully we can move up the table. On behalf of the squad I would like to thank the great support we had in Clermont, we were disappointed with our first twenty minutes but again with a little bit more smartness and more used to that intensity our day will come.”
Squad: Martin Thomas, Kevin Morgan, Gareth Wyatt, Richard Fussell, Aled Brew, Paul Emerick, Phil Dollman, Ceri Sweeney, Aled Thomas, Alex Walker, Gareth Chapman, Adam Black, David Maddocks, Ben Daly, Steve Jones, Rhys Thomas, Jamie Corsi, Andrew Hall, Ian Gough, Peter Sidoli, Luke Charteris, Joe Bearman, Jamie Ringer, Michael Owen.
