Horgan Back Next Week ?

With Munster due to lodge their Heineken Cup squad with ERC today, coach Declan Kidney will have paid particular attention to his medical staff reports on those players who have spent time in recent weeks on the treatment table rather than the training pitch.

Anthony Horgan and Barry Murphy look like they’ve made opportune returns to near fitness, Horgan hoping to be in contention for a place in the squad for the trip to Glasgow next week while Murphy has two games with UL Bohemians under his belt.

One name that will not be going into ERC offices is that of John O’Sullivan who damaged a cruciate ligament in the seasonal opener
against US Eagles in Chicago’s Toyota Park that rules him out for six months. The Tralee man has undergone surgery and is back in the gym rehabbing under the watchful eye of Aiden O’Connell who is delighted with O’Sullivan’s attitude and application, “He is
progressing really well and is superbly dedicated athlete, there is nothing you ask of him he wont do. He’s not only working to get himself back but he is also prepared to help in team preparation as well. We’re looking at March time of the year “

Munster do have the option of adding O’Sullivan to their Heineken squad at a later date.

Mossy Lawlor has resumed light training,  John Kelly who hasn’t featured since the game against Viadana is two weeks off a return, same as Denis Hurley who went over on an ankle minutes after coming on as a replacement in the opener against US Eagles and Donnacha Ryan has had the cast removed from his hand and is looking at four weeks before he returns to full swing.
