Magners Resumes
22nd October 2007 By Munster Rugby
With the Welsh Regions having already completed this round of fixtures, there are only three Magners League games – including one of the oldest of local derbies – this weekend.
All three games are on Friday night with Edinburgh and Connacht meeting at the Sportsground in Galway, with both sides trying to get away from the foot of the table. The hosts will be looking for their first win over Scottish opposition since last March, while Andy Robinson is still looking for his first win as Edinburgh coach.
The second game is also a Irish – Scottish encounter as Munster visit Glasgow Warriors, with the Warriors looking to build on their fine home record. On the other hand Munster will be aiming to avoid a third consecutive league defeat.
The final game of the round brings together old rivals Ulster and Leinster at Ravenhill with the Ulstermen keen to kick start their poor start to the season at the expense of their southern neighbours. However the omens are not good for the home team with only one Ulster win over Leinster (in 2004) since leagues began in 2001.
Glasgow Warriors made it two home wins on the bounce in the Magners League last time out as late tries from replacement Hefin O’Hare and full-back Bernardo Stortoni put the seal on a 21-17 triumph over Irish visitors Leinster.
For their part Munster, after two opening wins against Llanelli Scarlets and Newprt-Gwent Dragons went down to Cardiff Blues and Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.
