O’Mahony Starts Against Scotland

Peter O’Mahony will make his first start for Ireland, at senior level, in the RBS Six Nations game against Scotland on Saturday in Dublin.

O'Mahony, named on the bench in the original selection, gets his start because Sean O'Brien has been forced to withdraw due to a skin infection on his foot which has failed to recover as quickly as expected. The infection has required intravenous antibiotics and he is expected to be available for consideration for the game against England.
A product of the Munster Academy, 22 year old O'Mahony, only made his Heineken Cup this season for Munster but has been one of the lynchpins of a squad who sit in second place in the RaboDirect PRO12 with a Heineken Cup quarter final to come in early April.
