B&I Cup Rugby Set For Temple Hill
15th January 2013 By Munster Rugby
The Munster A side play their final pool game against English Championship side Plymouth Albion on Friday night at Temple Hill, ko 7pm.
Costello's side opened their B&I Cup campaign with a narrow 26-22 win against Plymouth in October and Scott Deasy believes no one is taking anything for granted going into Friday's encounter.
"The last time against them we performed quite well in patches and scored three tries in quick succession, and then were able to hold them off for the rest of the game. But looking towards Friday’s game they’ll know the position we’re in, we need the win to qualify, so they’re certainly not going to roll over for us, and we expect a tough physical game."
That day Deasy lined out at 10 but made the move to the centre for the last two games against Aberavon and Rotherham, "With the depth of the squad and the competition for places that we have I’ve just wanted to contribute in any way so it’s great to play wherever I can on the day."
"Last week against Aberavon away we were fortunate enough to build a lead, but the home-side is always going to have a purple patch and then they went on the hunt. For the last five or six minutes there was only once score in it and it was edge of the seat stuff, but we weathered it and we just wanted to get the ball out of our half, do nothing fancy and just build our phases. We just need to cut the errors out this week now."
And as Cork Constitution prepare for their first British and Irish Cup game, Deasy is only too familiar with the Cork venue, “It’ll be great playing in Con, my club grounds. They’ve a quality pitch up there and they look after it really well, and hopefully we’ll get the numbers out to watch the game.”
“I know it’s a massive weekend for Munster in general so if rugby people can come out on Friday night and watch us we'll hopefully set the standard for the senior team and if we can get the victory maybe we can spur them on for Sunday."
