Murray Free To Play
30th October 2013 By Munster Rugby
Conor Murray who was cited for an alleged incident of foul play during the Glasgow Warriors game last weekend will receive no sanction after the citing was upheld today.
Murray, who was never cited before, was accompanied by Munster CEO Garrett Fitzgerald and Team Manager Niall O’Donovan as he appeared before an independent RaboDirect PRO12 Disciplinary Committee in Cardiff today at 1pm.
Conor was cited by the independent Citing Commissioner for an alleged incident of foul play (striking an opponent, contrary to Law 10.4 (a) ), arising from the RaboDirect PRO12 match between Glasgow Warriors and Munster Rugby on Friday 25th October 2013.
The Committee, chaired by Roger Morris (Wales) alongside Rhian Williams (Wales) and Marco Cordelli (Italy), upheld the citing in that an act of foul play had been committed but found that the act did not merit classification as a red card offence and imposed no sanction. Murray is free to resume playing immediately.
Commenting afterwards Team Manager Niall O’Donovan said “While the citing has been upheld we are delighted that Conor is free to play immediately and believe it was the correct outcome of today’s hearing. We look forward to seeing him in action for Munster or Ireland in the next few weeks.”
